Die Weihnachtstage sind nun vorbei und ich bin wieder auf der Arbeit. An meinem Geburstag kamen Helen und Jacques vorbei und wir haben Scampis in Knoblauchöl auf dem braai zubereitet.
X-mas is over now and I started working again. On my birthday Helen and Jacques came around and we had some nice prawns in garlic.
An Heilig Abend war ich bei Brita und ihrer Familie auf ihrem Weingut Devon Rocks in der Nähe von Stellenbosch. Eigentlich wollten wir Picknick am Strand machen, aber es war dann zu stürmisch. Das war sehr gemütlich, denn nach dem mehrstündigen Stromausfall waren nur Kerzen an. Von Devon Rocks hat man auf der Terasse einen tollen Blich auf den Tafelberg (hier im Sonnenuntergang).
On Christmas Eve I visited Brita and her family on Devon Rocks near Stellenbosch. The planned picknick did not work out as it was very stormy that day. It was a very nice evening and because of a very long power failure , candles gave the only light. Devon Rocks has a very nice view on Table Mountain.
Am 25.12. habe ich dann auf der Terrasse gesessen und nichts gemacht und am 26. bis heute war ich bei Jaques und Helen in Durbanville. Die nächsten Tage liegt erstmal nichts mehr an, aber am 30.12. kommen Jan und Noa von ihrem Urlaub wieder und wohnen dann für ihre restlichen 2 Wochen Südafrika bei mir. Wie versprochen, ahbe ich auch mal ein kleines Video vom Haus und der Umgebung gemacht.
On 25.12. I did nothing than relaxing on my terrace and from yesterday until today I stayed at Helen and Jacques place in Durbanville. Next days nothing really will happen but on Monday Noa and Jan will come back from their holiday and stay the final two weeks of their South Africa "holiday" at my place.

Ich wünsche allen ein schönes Weihnachtsfest und einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr!

Lange nichts mehr geschrieben...
...aber hier ist auch tatsächlich kaum etwas interessantes passiert. Die Uni ist so gut wie menschenleer, sogar die Läden auf dem Campus haben zu und ich kann froh sein, dass ein laden noch Mittagessen verkauft. Alle Studenten und die meisten Angestellten sind aus Stellenbosch verschwunden...fehlen eigentlich nur noch die trockenen Büsche die über die Straße wehen. Auch meine internationale Truppe hat sich aufgelöst, Flo ist schon daheim, Oscar letzte Woche auch geflogen, Johannes bringe ich nachher für seinen Weihnachtsbesuch in Deutschland zum Flughafen (der bleibt aber zum Glück mal 2 -3 Jahre hier), Noa und Jan sind in Namibia oder Botswana irgendwo im Busch, achja, da sind Gerald, Olli, Cédric und Konsorten auch gerade. Alle fahren mit www.nomadtours.ca.za (für alle die was planen, Sabine war mit denen auch los und war begeistert). Wenn das Wetter gut is mache ich Heilig Abend am Strand ein Picknick mit Britas Freunden (die Frau, die ich im Flugzeug kennengelernt habe).
Dann gibt es auch sicher wieder ein paar neue Fotos. Und ich habe mir zu Weihhnachten und zum Geburtstag einen riesen Sonnenschirm für meine Terasse gekauft!
Long time no writing....
but actually nothing really happened overhere. The Campus is completely empty, all students and staff are gone on holiday to their hometowns or beach houses. Flo and Oscar are already back in Europe and one of them still has something what belongs to me, Oscar! :-) The last of the Internationals (Johannes) I will bring to the airport for his X-mas holiday in Germany and then I arranged successfully that all they are all gone. Noa and Jan will come back on 30.12. They are like Gerald, Cédric, Olli and the others on a tour with www.nomadtours.co.za and are now in Botzwana or Namibia somewhere in the bush watching animals, sunsets and sunrises without break. If the weather stays fine I will have a picknick with Brita (the woman I met on the plane on my way to SA) and her friends at the beach on 24.12. in the afternoon. For my birthday not many people are left to show up, but Jaques and Helen will come and probably Mandi and we make a relaxing afternoon with some beers and garlic braaid prawns.
Soon, there will be new pics (hopefully).

Sunday (Sonntag)
Sabines last day in Jonkershoek 91. We had a small breakfast, enjoyed the sun on the terrace and headed off to CT Waterfront for some Souvenir Shopping and a "windy" coffee. Her plane left at 17.25 (dont take Turkish Airlines, the flight is more than 20 h)
Sabines letzter Tag in SA. Nach einem kleinen Frühstück sind wir nochmal Richtung Waterfront in Cape Town gefahren. Für alle Reiseplaner: Turkish Airlines fliegt über Istanbul-Johannesburg-Kapstadt in 20 Std. Nicht ganz so schnell...

Sabine, war schön das du da warst, denn mal bis bis Herbst 2008.
Next trip with Sabine will start 14.15!

Sonntag abends (Sunday evening)
Jonkershoek bis zum Ende gefahren in den Jonkershoek Natianol Reserve irgendwas naturdingsbums (mit Karen, Jan, Okidiko und Flo). Diesmal haben wir den BMW genommen, aber aus Sicherheitsgründen muss überprüft werden, ob das nebenan geparkte Auto richtig verschlossen ist. Abends hatten wir dann eine braai...wer hätte das gedacht...ich erspar euch mal ein Bild davon
Visit in the Jonkershoek National Nature Reserve for Hungry Moskitos with Karen, Flo, Jan and Okidiko. We took this time the BMW, but for security reasons we checked carefully that the old car next to our flagship was closed properly. In the evening we had a braai at my place. Dessert was Rolo-Ice Cream.

Nach einem ausgiebigen Spätstück mit Sabine, Flo, Olli, Johannes, Küchenchef Jan, Oscar, Ei und Bacon bei mir waren wir shoppen in Stellenbosch. Ich habe ein Eis gekauft.

We enjoyed Sabines Käsespätzle, Braai, Mojito from the Sputnik, beer, Springbokkie, Peach Schnaps, Jägermeister....
Am letzten Freitag hatte ich die Einweihungsparty in meinem Haus. Es gab dies und das zu Essen und trinken. Die letzten Gäste (Flo und Johannes) haben den Hof um 5.30 verlassen.
